Pilates is for Men Too - Spread the Word!
Thursday August 3, 2006
Pilates has been popular with both male and female elite athletes for many years, but in the mainstream the trend has been that women practitioners have significantly outnumbered men. That trend is changing as more men are inspired by well-known sports figures to explore Pilates workouts for themselves.
If you are looking for a little push to check out Pilates, or know a man who could use one, here are a few of the well known men practicing Pilates as reported by USA Today(8/17/06): PGA Tour pro Rocco Mediate; Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl offensive guard Ruben Brown; Rich Beem, winner of the 2002 PGA Championship; Jason Kidd, the New Jersey Nets superstar point guard; Curt Schilling, starting pitcher for the Boston Red Socks and Pro Golfer Charles Nardiello. OK guys, see you in class!

Your About Pilates Guide (thankfully for us all, not baseball.)
Started teaching men in special class just for them 5 months ago. Fantastic results. They are more competitive than women and I have to hold them back from some moves they aren’t ready for but want to do. Huge benefits, not just physically, but emotionally. Giving them knowledge aobut their body, awareness of how to use it wisely. Techniques for life. Oh, and they sleep better. Classes are great fun and apart from having to focus like a laser beam to multi-task, the banter is coming on nicely too. Go to it men. You deserve to feel lithe and flexible, not just strong.
I am currently teaching some men runners who have reported improvements in their long distance racing times after working out 3 times per week with Pilates
Good one!
