Vary that Workout

I've just graduated myself to a new level of my Pilates practice. Maybe it is the cooler weather, but I suddenly feel ready to work a little harder. I was elated after the first session of my new workout. Yes, the challenge is exciting and so is the change, but those aren't the only reasons for the lift I felt. Part of it was the enhanced level of awareness that I had to bring to my workout because it was so different than usual.

I am reminded once again of the emphasis that Joseph Pilates put on the quality of ones attention while doing the exercises. What he knew is that as we bring our full attention into our practice, we greatly increase our chances for a fully integrative experience. That's what I'm after when I do Pilates, and that's how I felt after my new, more varied routine!

So what about you? Is it time to step it up a bit? Maybe your working at the right level but it's time to add a more variety to your Pilates experience? I must say, a little change can go a long way now and again. If this sounds like something that might be a next step for you, read 10 Tips for Adding Variety to Your Pilates Workout.
