Reveal Your Abs

Friday March 9, 2007
About those flat abs we've been talking about... The exercises in the Flat Abs Series are going to go a long way toward helping you get the core strength and lean strong muscles you want, but there is a little more to the story. If you really want those abs to show, then you have to address what's covering them. Yep, not clothes, fat.

An exercise program, like Pilates, is hugely supportive of weight loss, but it may be that the diet component needs some attention too. About's guide to Sports Medicine, Elizabeth Quinn, addresses the nutrition issues related to getting those flat abs to show in her article, Tips for Strong, Flat Abs.

Why does everyone always say ‘build lean strong muscles’?

When you build muscle, it IS lean, it’s all protein. Muscle is strength too. When you build new muscle, it’s not weak.

Sometimes people put on fat with muscle, but that’s an entirely separate thing.

Perhaps it’s the whole trying to distinguish between dancers and bodybuilders thing. That’s an illusion.
