Speaking of Pilates Masters

Friday November 14, 2008
A few months ago I wrote a little article, What is a Pilates Master Instructor, about what seemed like everybody and their brother calling themselves a Pilates master in their advertising. Today, I got a heads up from Catherine Cuzzone, a principle of the United States Pilates Association, letting me know that Lolita San Miguel is starting a real Masters Mentor program in Jan. 2009.

Lolita San Miguel is one of the Elders of Pilates. She is one of Joseph Pilates' original students. In fact she is one of only two, herself and Cathy Grant, who were actually certified by Joe himself to teach the method. She has been practicing Pilates for over 50 years and holds several other Pilates certifications. Basically, she is a master.

The Masters Mentor Program is an intensive 200 hour program designed for certified teachers who have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience. This is a small program but it looks like registration is still open. If you are an experienced instructor and you've been wondering about furthering your training in a big way, you might want to look into it!
