Exercise of the Week: Spine Stretch

Wednesday November 19, 2008
pilates pictureHere we are, poised on the brink of holiday travel time and it got me thinking: "what exercises would I put in a Pilates travel kit"? It's not too weird to do in front of relatives - you do it sitting - you don't even have to lie down. It's a great de-stressor. And, it's full of Pilates ab and spine articulations without being hard to learn.

I agree that spine stretch is excellent for the holidays. especially when most people are traveling, sitting on buses, trains and planes. It is easy to get stiff and stuck from long periods of sitting and large quantities of food. It is a simple exercise that draws little attention and requires little space. Being in a uptown NYC Pilates studio we know how space is rare and should be fully utilized! Maybe you can even inspire you relatives to try Pilates in the new year!
