Here is a typical scenario for many Pilates practitioners: We get in the habit of taking Pilates equipment classes -- maybe reformer, chair or variety pack circle, ball and band -- and our mat classes start to slide. Then, at some point, we end up doing mat again and it's like a revelation. Suddenly, mat is incredible. What a difference it has made to do mat again. I love mat! I neeeeed mat.
I was talking about the mat effect with a Pilates friend the other day and we got on such a riff about how important the mat work is, that I decided to write a top 5 reasons to take mat classes list. Why I chose 5 and not 10 is a mystery to me. I had to really work to distill what I wanted to get across into a top 5, but I think I've done well enough to get you inspired to take a Pilates mat class for the first time or get back to it if it's been a while.
Without further delay: Why You Need Pilates Mat Classes
What is your experience? Do you love mat work? Why? As always your comments are welcome.

I think the mat work is the basic and important part in the pilates. I begin my pilates from mat work and I have a special feeling to mat.
