Every year, when it's hot in July, I decide it's time for us to focus on swimming. Not that Pilates swimming is all that cooling. It can really get your heart rate up. Let's just say it's invigorating, and an excellent exercise.
Pilates swimming is a back extension exercise so it works the back muscles. It also gets the abs and shoulders and you get a little butt and hamstring in there as well. This is also a coordination exercise so be ready for that. Swimming is one of the classical Pilates mat exercises.
