Every now and then I encourage everyone, beginner to advanced, to get back in touch with the classical Pilates mat sequence. There are other Pilates mat exercises, some from Joe and many made up later that still relate to Pilates fundamentals, but there is nothing quite like the strength, flexibility, and physical integrity that comes from practicing the exercises of the classical sequence in order.
If you are a Pilates beginner, there are some exercises you won't be able to do -- they are labeled advanced or offer modifications. I still think it is important that you know where your practice comes from and where it is headed.
