Get Your BMI and New Friends Too

Saturday June 9, 2007
OK, I do not like to apply statistics to my body. I never weigh myself, and I try not to compare myself to others. My tactic is to know when I when I feel healthy, to know when my clothes fit, and to know when I feel good about myself. If one of those things changes and I don't like it, I do something about it, like eating lighter and doing more Pilates.

That said, I have to admit that I am really getting a kick out of the tools that are offered at About.com's Calorie-Count website. There is an analysis tool for figuring out your Body Mass Index (BMI), a calculator for figuring out how many calories you need to achieve your goal weight, a list of activities and how many calories they burn, and a huge list of foods with detailed nutritional information. I'm thinking I might get a little more specific about my fitness goals this summer!

The other thing going on at Calorie Count is a great community of people supporting each other in their health goals. You do sign up to get in the community, but it is free. Once you sign up, you get access to a whole personalized fitness section where you can keep track of your goals and progress. I signed in; I have a profile and everything. You can find me in the community section as Pilates_guide.
