Why did you want to start Pilates classes?

My local personal training facility offered pilates classes and not even knowing what pilates really was, I signed up for a trial class.

Did you start with a mat, equipment, or combo class?

Mat class.

Where was the class held?

Private personal training studio.

How did you feel in your first class?

I was really nervous. I went not knowing what to expect and not knowing anyone there. I was really out of my comfort zone, but determined to at least finish the class (but stayed way in the back!)

Did you like that first class?

I absolutely feel in love with my class! My instructor was very verbal with instructions and hands on with helping me correct my movements. I didn't believe anyone could get a workout from doing pilates, but I was certainly proven wrong. I left there sweating, shaking, relaxed and proud of myself for what I was able to accomplish my first time. I worked muscles I didn't know I had and 6 months later, I'm still working muscles I didn't know I had!

Advice

  • Don't be intimidated by the moves (or the names of some of the moves!) - take control of your body and you'll be surprised at what you can do!
  • Make it part of your lifestyle and you'll be awed at how strong, powerful and beautiful it will make you feel.
  • Invest in some good yoga/pilates workout clothes - the gym shorts and t-shirt I wore my first day, while comfortable, ended up being a little revealing when doing some of the moves!
