Pilates for Stress Reduction

Wednesday June 14, 2006
So often exercise is said to be one of the best antidotes to stress. I have certainly found this to be true. In Pilates I find the combination of working with the breath, concentration, and the actual physicality of the workout to be especially supportive of a sense of integration and well-being. I was just writing an outline for a simple Pilates exercise to get in touch with the feeling of what we call "neutral spine". I tried following my own directions and I really enjoyed it. I found it to be a very relaxing exercise to do just on its own. You may want to try this out as a stress reducer; it really works. Here are the directions for relaxing and finding your neutral spine.
