Ugly Betty Not Withstanding, Pilates is a Core Challenge

Did anybody catch Salma Hayek's somewhat lackluster Pilates demonstration on TV's, Ugly Betty, Thursday night? In case you didn't see the show, much of the action did seem to be designed around Salma's chest; so I thought it was kinda funny that the exercise she was doing on the Pilates reformer was chest expansion. Did they do that on purpose? What attention to detail! Nevertheless, Salma is known to be a Pilates fan, as are many celebrities including Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, Vanessa Williams, and the list goes on and on.
What is it about Pilates that keeps all these very busy beauties interested? The first answer, among many, that comes to mind is that Pilates tones and strengthens bodies fast - without bulk. Much of that effectiveness comes from the Pilates emphasis on core strength.
