Starting Thursday, over 800 Pilates nuts are going to descend on Las Vegas, for the Pilates Method Alliance annual conference -- four days of amazing Pilates classes and camaraderie. Hopefully, what happens in Vegas won't stay in Vegas. (if you aren't going skip down to notes for you)
I wish I was going to the PMA conference this year, but alas, it doesn't seem to be in the stars. So here is a big xxoo to all my friends who will be there, including all my Facebook and Twitter friends. I'll will miss being there with you. Have fun!
On the upside, Kim Copeland, a presenter at PMA this year -- her talk is
entitled, "I'm Okay, You are Problematic" or "Why You Love Some People and Get Really Irritated With Others" -- will be reporting on conference for us. Stay tuned for her blogs and reports.
If You Are Going to PMA:
Kim is also the business manager for The Pilates Center of Boulder and she will be based at their booth in the vendor hall. If you are going to PMA, make sure you stop by and tell Kim how your experience at PMA is going so she can add your insights and energy to her reports. While you are at it, take advantage of all the vendor booths (along with as many classes as you can tolerate, of course). I know there will be a lot of great deals to be had as well as resources to discover.
Now, for those Not Going to PMA:
It occurs to me that there are fabulous interviews here at Pilates.About.com with at least ten of the interesting people who will be presenting at the PMA this year. You could do your very own PMA-like workshop in the comfort of your own home. Sound good? Here are the instructors and links to their articles:
Brent Anderson: Pilates and Sciatica and Where Pilates and Physical Therapy Meet
Rael Isacowitz: Pilates - Art, Science, and Passion and Pilates Step Barrel Workout
Kyria Sabin: Exploring Fletcher Pilates (Ron Fletcher's life will be honored at this years PMA)
Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle: Your Posture and the Domes of Uplift
Rebekah Rotstein: Pilates and Osteoporosis
