The Toning Workout Pant from Fila

I am a little on the fence about these workout pants from Fila, though I recognize that they might be a great solution for some people. First, let's get the toning pant part out of the way: These pants are not like toning shoes where the makers claim they actually do something that enhances muscle tone. These workout pants are about appearance - except that the firmness of the extra-wide waistband might remind you to engage your abdominal muscles.

What I'm getting used to are the serious seams and panels. There is a panel flanked by two heavy seams that wraps around the leg at a diagonal. It looks good, it does have a leg slimming effect. But I can feel the seams rubbing the inside of my leg when I walk and I don't like that. I have a fear of being squished by my clothes so I got a size larger which might be the reason the seams are rubbing more. Then, I wonder: If you are plus size and really want a toning pant, do you want skin tight?

There is a "bottom shaping" panel that makes these pants look like riding britches to me. I feel like my butt is outlined in seams and I'm a little self-conscious about that. So, what I did for you, dear reader, was parade myself in front of others asking the ever-present: "Do these pants make me look fat?" The resounding reply was NO. Everybody said that they are slimming and the panel defines the butt as smaller than it is. Still, I can't help wondering if all these seams and panels are like announcing that I'm wearing shaping clothes. Maybe that's OK. And who would know, really?

As Pilates and yoga pants go, $55.00 is a good price considering the work in these pants. They are made well and Fila has gone all the way on the toning part. If you are looking for a workout pant that can contain, compress, and lift I bet this is a good choice. Fila is a widely available brand.
